The Chiaroscuro Sensory Dark Room package’s UV glow and contrasting colours provide an exciting sensory experience suitable for all users, including those with visual impairments.

The variety of textures on the UV tactile disc are great for low vision users, and also help develop an understanding of different textures in those both hyper- and hypo-sensitive to touch.

With a UV take on some of our most popular sensory products, this room also comes with a black pop-up tent in which to hide away with the resource box’s light-up toys and maximise their effects.

Chiaroscuro, the UV Dark Room, has been specially developed to stimulate visual experiences and spatial awareness for low vision users, and the excitement created by the dramatic surroundings can help to improve attention and interaction skills for those with a wide variety of other abilities, including ADHD, Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties, Downs Syndrome and Sensory Processing Disorder, amongst others. A sensory dark room is often used for functional visual assessments, but when a wider variety of UV products are incorporated, it can also be used to develop a wide variety of life-skills: Because of the stark contrasts created by the UV items and LED lights against the dark setting, users with low vision are able to more easily perceive and so interact with their surroundings. By following the movement of the UV reactive items and the LED lights of the black Musical Touchwall, users are able to develop tracking skills, concentration and hand-eye co-ordination. The variety of textures on the UV tactile disc are not only great for low vision users, but also help develop an understanding of different textures in those both hyper- and hypo-sensitive to touch. The Superactive controller for the LED Bubble Tube can be used by anyone to develop cause and effect skills, colour recognition, switching skills, turn-taking and social interaction. And the shimmering coloured shower of the UV-reactive LED Fibre Optic Cascade and comfort of the UV Fibre-optic Softie can be used either for developing these interactive skills, or simply for relaxation.
